Arrest Warrant Issued For Cincinnati Bengals Star Running Back Joe Mixon

Court records have indicated that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon for the misdemeanor charge of aggravated menacing.

A spokesperson for the Cincinnati Bengals released a statement Thursday, confirming that the club is aware of the charges filed against the running back but no further comment will be made at this time.

According to the warrant, Mixon is alleged to have pointed a gun at an individual and declared that person should be “popped in the face” on the intersection of Walnut Street and East Third Street in downtown Cincinnati on Jan. 21, the day before the Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs.

Peter Schaffer, the agent for Mixon, stated he anticipates the charges from Hamilton County to be dropped on Friday. “Police should be mindful of the effect of charges on an individual’s standing before charging someone,” Schaffer declared. “I think Hamilton County hastened their declaration of this charge, and hopefully this Friday it will be dismissed.”

Back In 2014, Mixon, a running back for the University of Oklahoma, was charged with misdemeanor assault for punching a woman following an encounter. He stated he had been called a racial slur, then replied with an anti-gay slur, and then subsequently knocked the woman out cold. He was given a plea deal of one year of probation and was also suspended for an entire year of football by Oklahoma.

In 2017, Mixon was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round of the NFL Draft, and in 2020 he inked a four-year extension worth $48 million.
