Tom Brady Announces Retirement From The NFL

After 23 years of proud service in the National Football League (NFL), seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady shared Wednesday on social media that he was retiring from the sport “for good.” Brady’s ambition to play professionally until the age of 45 has come to fruition, setting innumerable records along the way and is leaving the game with no regrets; in a post on Instagram he stated that he “wouldn’t change a thing” about his remarkable career.

“I know the process was a pretty big deal last time, so when I woke up this morning, I figured I’d just press record and let you guys know first,” Brady said in a video on Twitter. “I won’t be long-winded. You only get one super emotional retirement essay, and I used mine up last year, so really thank you guys so much to every single one of you for supporting me.”

One year ago on Feb. 1, 2022, Brady announced his retirement, only to change his mind 40 days later and come back to play with Tampa Bay. This time he says it really is over.

At 6 a.m ET Wednesday February 2, 2023, ESPN’s Jeff Darlington reported that Brady had informed the Buccaneers of his decision. To show their gratitude, the Buccaneers later tweeted their appreciation for Brady and included a #ThankYouTom caption.
