David Gill St James’s is delighted to present its inaugural exhibition, Zaha Hadid ‘Liquid Glacial’ by one of the foremost and celebrated architects of her generation.
Liquid Glacial Liquid Glacial comprises a series of tables resembling ice-formations made from clear and coloured acrylic. Their design embeds surface complexity and refraction within a powerful fluid dynamic. The pristine geometry of the flat table top appears transformed from static to fluid by the subtle waves and ripples evident below the surface, which seem to pour from the horizontal through an intense vortex that forms the table legs.
The transparent acrylic material amplifies this perception, adding depth and complexity through a flawless display of infinite kaleidoscopic refractions. The result generates a wonderful surface dynamic that inherits a myriad of colours from its context and continually adapts with the observer’s changing viewpoint. The form is of its creator; a design that does not compromise functionality or ergonomic requirements and a coherent evolution of Hadid’s architectural narrative exploring movement through space.
Liquid Glacial tables are milled and hand polished to create their exquisite finish. They are available in clear and colour. The coloured pieces radiate light from the base of the legs throughout the work via a series of refracted shards which continually realign as the viewer walks around the table.

THE LEGACY OF DAME ZAHA HADID
“The details are not the details. They make the design.” Charles Eames
The essence of design is to “feel” the instrumentation of all elements which directly evoke our emotions, influence our experiences and alter our behavior. From provocative panoplies of architectural defiance to inveigling interiors; industrial spatial marvels, luxuriating home décor collections and breathtaking fashions, Zaha Hadid’s unparalleled distinct voice transformed our human desires into altruistic art forms.
In each of Hadid’s works, regardless the medium; the greatest contribution of her einfuhlung is the interaction between the geological, the flexuous dance of shape and how that space or object engages continuum communication.
ONE THOUSAND MUSEUM is the memoriam and everlasting testament to Hadid’s conceptual language and the bridge that embodies her spirit to an ever-growing metropolis. Just as the late Dame herself; her first residential skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere will stand regal at the concatenation of Biscayne Bay, overlooking Miami’s skyline to Museum Park and become the architectural iconoclast to Miami’s culture and commerce district. As theanthropistic as this superstructure will be in configuration, so is the indelible incite (CONSCIOUSNESS IGNITES THE EVOLUTION) of Zaha’s ingenuity that will forever change Miami’s presence in the global marketplace.
Museum Park is home to the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science and Pérez Art Museum Miami, with adjacent views from the building to the Port ofMiami. Located downtown on the Biscayne Waterfront is the American Airlines Arena and in close proximity to Adrienne Arscht Center of Performing Arts.
Kurt Dannwolf, Principal at O’ Donnell Dannwolf PartnersArchitects (ODP), the firm that is currently the Architect of Record of OTM shares an exclusive with OTI.
“Whereas most construction is realtor or developer driven, OTM is artistically driven. The ideology of the way in which it is built is to expose the columns, rather than hide them behind a wall. You can feel the impact of the building being held up without the reduction of structural integrity. It looks like a giant truss on its side that lies vertically, rather than horizontal. Each floor tells its own narrative. On the top of the building, there is a publicly open residential hall that is offered to its residents in case they want to host a private party. It comes equipped with a kitchen, its own chef and a private dining room that has glass on all sides.”
The genius of Zaha’sorchestration is that the residential space will have a positive social perspective on its city and community. It will be the connective pulse to the city’s art infused culture.
“Working with the Zaha Hadid Architectural team on this project has been an amazing experience. We speak with them on a daily basis and plan to honor her spirit by executing her plans and carrying out her vision. OTM is a high performance building in which will set the bar high on construction for future developments. It will become the future catalyst on how we build. Ten to fifteen years from now it will be still be spoken about and the benchmark on how we encompass design.
Being an observer of Zaha Hadid’s work and studying her progress from early on, I could tell she was a theoretical architect. Prior to any preconceived developments, her drawings and paintings were the “living pictures” of her building counterparts. It’s as if her illusions were already alive and she was crafting her architectural score. Zaha changed a generation of how the world gets built. In a word, she’s a true visionary.”
Zaha Hadid made it possible for her predecessors, colleagues and students to view her skill set comparatively and empowered women to challenge others’ perceptions regardless of gender. Coined as “the greatest defining female architect”, Zaha Hadid hoped to lose that title in this lifetime. Recently awarded with the ‘2016Royal Gold Medal from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA’S), being the first woman to receive this honor shines hope that the industry is evolving.
As the sun shimmers over the Biscayne Bay and dusk ushers in the susurration of lights over this majestic edifice (OTM project completion Q4 ‘2017).
In the words of Andrew Farris & the late Michael Hutchence (INXS)…
“Listen to by the walls- We share the same spaces-Repeated in the corridors-Performing the same movements- Storey to storey-Building to building- Street to street-We pass each other on the stairs.”
We’ll always have Miami – RIP ZAHA HADID 1950-2016
