The Pinnacle Penthouse reaches above and beyond, even by New York standards.

Topping the Woolworth Tower Residences, the Pinnacle Penthouse lives up to its name. The sky-high address is so truly unique, in fact, that it required a brilliant visionary like New York architect David Hotson to imagine its maximum potential for buyers.

Perhaps inspired by water views among the astounding panoramic setting, he looked to streamlined yacht design for inspiration, a clever way to rein in historic, preserved architectural features such as four turrets and a copper roof.

Traditional amenities meet their thoroughly modernized versions in a bibliophile’s dream library and a central circular staircase like one would find in a multi-storied, centuries-old estate.

The resulting renderings transform the blank space into a livable home, albeit one whose nearly 10,000 square feet span the 50th to 58th floors with a wraparound observatory deck on par with Manhattan skyscrapers’ tourist attractions. Natural light streams through more than 100 new windows, and ceilings soar up to 24 feet. Alchemy Properties tapped venerable French architect Thierry W. Despont to restore and gently update the converted, luxury residential portion (atop offices) of original architect Cass Gilbert’s headquarters for the F. W. Woolworth Company dating to 1913. Exclusive residential amenities range from a private entrance at 2 Park Place in TriBeCa to a lavish spa featuring a 50-foot lap pool, sauna and whirlpool. (Some fun facts are the former’s ornate ceiling coffers were relocated from Mr. Woolworth’s office, while the spa houses his private pool.) The Pinnacle Penthouse, its crown jewel within a total of 32 residences, is currently listed for sale.
