The Oxymore Colored Hocks collection by Saint-Louis was the first collection that brought together the Hot and Cold workshops of the four-century old crystal manufacture from France, in real harmony from the creation of the collection to the fabrication of its pieces. Oxymore unfolds a full set of glassware and barware pieces with modern silhouettes. Its crystal-cut details evoke its clean Art Deco architectural elements. Founded in eastern France in 1586, Saint Louis crystal is the oldest “cristallerie” in Europe. In 18th century, they were purveyors to French kings and gained popularity among the French population that demanded high quality glassware.

The petals are hand-modeled from the soft porcelain paste. This unique technique inherited from the 18th Century is called Pastillage. The legend says that one winter day, the Marquise de Pompadour, patron of the Arts and inceptor of the Sèvres’ porcelain factory, entertained King Louis XV at the Castle of Bellevue in a greenhouse decorated with a bed of soft-paste, painted and perfumed, porcelain flowers.
