JUMP FOR A CAUSE

As one of the most esteemed and glamorous events throughout the world and the largest annual outdoor horse shows in the United States, the HAMPTON CLASSIC has distinguished itself through its charitable donations that have a deep economic impact on its local community and shared love for animals.

“I do take great pride in the support the Hampton Classic provides to several charities,” said Shanette Cohen, Executive Director of the Hampton Classic. “Since 1977, the Hampton Classic has made contributions totaling almost two million dollars to Southampton Hospital. The Classic also supports many other local non-profit organizations and equestrian related charities. For the last six years, we have hosted ASPCA Adoption and Animal Welfare Day. Nine animal shelters participated this year offering adoption for horses, dogs, cats and, various breeds of rabbits were rescued in a joint effort between the ASPCA & NYPD. This was also our 11th year hosting the Championship Finals for the Long Island Horse Show Series (LIHSSRD) for Riders with Disabilities, presented by Bridgehampton National Bank. This year we initiated a new Jump for Charity Program which raised over $16,000 for Caring Hearts for Canines”, shared Shanette.

Other charities included: Just World International, Sag Harbor Food Pantry, HEART Equine Ambulance, The Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research & Preservation, Bridgehampton Childcare Center, Turtle Rescue of the Hamptons, Children’s Museum of the East End, Church Street School for Music and Art, South Fork Natural History Museum, and Bridgehampton Fire Department.

Competitors, celebrities and spectators alike participated in this year’s outreach. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights from last week’s event.
